Restaurant service sucks? Blame the kitchen.

2. Along these same lines, once the server puts in a food order, the wait time is out of his or her hands. You are at the mercy of the kitchen and your food will come out as soon as it is done.

3. If something is wrong with your food once it comes out, don't yell at the server. The kitchen employees cooked it, not the server, but they will be happy to fix it for you - if you are polite.

4. When it comes to tipping, servers don't make minimum wage. They make less than $4 an hour, so tips mean everything! Also keep in mind, the tip you leave does not go directly to your server, but is split at least four ways with different workers in the restaurant like the food runner and the bartender, so a fairly bad tip ends up equaling only a few dollars once it is distributed. When no tip is left at all, your server actually still tips out those people with his or her own earnings.

5. Skipping out on your check, as convenient and exciting as it may seem, is nothing less than stealing. If you're caught, you can be arrested. If you manage to skip out without being caught, just understand that you made someone else pay for your meal. It doesn't just go away and that is completely unfair. Remember the golden rule of pre-school: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Like I said, in general, I love customers. Hell, they pay my rent each month, but all I ask for is a little consideration, and if you ever get the urge to dine and dash, please fight it.

The restaurant doesn't take the hit; it's your server that took care of you all night that has to cut the loss. If servers had the money to simply pay random people's bills, chances are they would not be waiting tables.

If your servers used punctuation and grammar like yours when taking orders, it's a wonder you recieved any food at all!
