Top Ten Best new Shows on TV

With school, work, the economy and all the craziness that's constantly surrounding us, I find there is nothing more relaxing than mentally checking out for a couple hours to simply be entertained by your TV.
Luckily, I've found that there are actually a lot of cool new shows on that are worth watching. Furthermore, if it helps you get through a monotonous day, there's nothing wrong with looking forward going home to a great show.

1. The Life and Times of Tim
This animated show on HBO is hilarious, and no, that's not Ray Romano's voice.

2. True Blood
This vampire series starring Anna Paquin, keeps up with HBO's reputation of making awesome shows. It's sexy, scary and very intriguing.

3. Glam God with Vivica A. Fox
This show has wannabe stylists competing to basically become a celebrity stylist. If you like fashion, the challenges are awesome, but why does Vivica A. Fox think she's a fashion expert? Yeah, she's an awesome actress, but fashion expert? I don't think so. Luckily the other judges on the show have more credibility.

4. The Baby Borrowers
Their tagline "It's not TV, it's birth control" couldn't be more true. They take high school couples who are 'in love' and think they're ready to get married and be parents and have them live together for the first time in a fully furnished home in the "Baby Borrowers" cul-de-sac. Then the borrowing begins as the teens first take care of babies, then toddlers, followed by pre-teens, teenagers and finally the elderly. Not only are they getting a crash course in parenting, but also one of them has to go to work, too, while the other stays home with the kid. Also these naive teens are responsible for all the little things no one tells you about when you have a baby, like putting together the crib, the changing table and everything else. I think it's great that they're finally trying to show the reality of having a child and how hard it could be on a relationship, especially when you're young and unprepared.

5. I Survived a Japanese Game Show
On this show, they take a group of unsuspecting Americans to the set of a real Japanese game show where they're required to compete in some of the most unusual challenges you'll ever see. One time they had to dress like big babies and travel through a crazy obstacle course without spilling their milk. Another time they were supposed to be flies that had to splat themselves on a faux car window to get points. This show is cool because it combines both a wacky game show as well as your typical reality show, as the American cast lives together in a house learning about Japan when they're not playing.

6. Wipe Out
This is America's version of the Most Extreme Elimination Challenge, and if any of you have seen that you know that it's absolutely hilarious! This show takes everyday people and allows them to compete for money in crazy challenges like the knock out wall (that you have to get by without getting punched in the face by boxing gloves that shoot out randomly), and my favorite, the big balls (where you have to make your way over big red balls - might sound easy, it's so not)!

7. Stylista
Okay, I didn't like "The Devil Wears Prada" because I don't think the fashion industry is about kissing ass and trying to be like everyone else; and that movie is what this show is based on. But if you can get past all the rude and judgmental people, you'll find this show is pretty entertaining, especially for someone like myself who loves fashion. The challenges are pretty cool and include finding topics to write about for Elle magazine, laying out the magazine pages and, of course, the unnecessary demoralizing BS they put the contestants through to produce an entertaining show like planning a birthday party for a bratty 7-year-old.

8. Storm Chasers
This show on Discovery Channel is actually in its second season, but still pretty new. It's more of a documentary where you follow two groups of real life storm chases as they try to collect data from Tornado Alley. One of them is a filmmaker whose goal is to actually get footage for an IMAX film he's making of being inside a tornado. It's pretty crazy because these chasers have almost no fear, especially Reed who lives for tornados.

9. America's Greatest Dog
This show is cool because not only does it have adorable dogs in it and the element of a bunch of strangers living in a house together, but it also gives a lot of helpful advice on how to properly care for, love and train your own dog at home. It's nice to have a show like this highlighting what a joy dogs can be in your life, hopefully it's motivated more people to go out a rescue a dog for themselves.

10. Private Practice
I know this show isn't brand new, but it's still worth mentioning. Addison, the redheaded bombshell from "Grey's Anatomy," relocates to Santa Monica where she works with her old friend Naomi at, you guessed it, a private practice doctors' office. At first, I was hesitant because I didn't think anything could compare to "Grey's Anatomy," and this isn't nearly that good, but it's still really fun to watch.
