Hip-Hop Chic

Recent Mountain Point graduate and soon-to-be Arizona State University sophomore, Shea Wooten, brought hip-hop chic to the Valley when she opened her own store, Royale Noire, just a year ago.
After learning from her mother, who had owned stores in California where Wooten was born, she decided to try herself. And at only 18 years old, she is running this funky shop that is packed with fabulous clothes, including brands such as Ed Hardy, Apple Bottom and Marisa K.
But Royale Noire is more then just a boutique. They have DJs every weekend, local art, including a mural on the walls and cold drinks anytime.
“I’m really interested in helping out other young people like me. I carry jewelry from a local 17-year-old and her line, Cassy’s Sassy Jewelry, and I’ll also play music from locals; for example, the other day I was playing a 19-year-old’s CD.”
Additionally, this Sun Devil extends her pride for her school, as she offers all ASU students a 10 percent discount.
Royale Noire is great for unusual items that you won’t find in every other boutique, including high-waisted Apple Bottom shorts and jeans, Ed Hardy sunglasses and even guys’ clothes! Finally!
