Fit to a T

T-shirts are all the rage these days, and with tons of funky sayings and images that are turning up, it seems they are the easiest way to express yourself without saying a word. I got a chance to interview some of the hippest t-shirt designers from right here in the Valley to New York City about their lines and inspirations.
Plastic People
This is one of my favorite lines because it’s as lower east side of Manhattan as it’s old school, but so new at the same time. New Jersey natives and friends Chuck Guarino and Mike Murphy moved to NYC and create Plastic People in 2003. The line is pretty exciting because you never know what these guys will come up with next. Sometimes its disco meets surfer meets ‘80s, and other times it’s just kind of twisted! Either way Plastic People delivers if you’re looking to stand out and be original in fun gear that speaks for itself. Check out their line at plasticpeopletrash.com.
LowBrow Clothing
LowBrow clothing was created by four local boys Marc Dekenipp, David Dankers, Bob Oehler and Zack Scherschligt, who met in high school and are still roommates today. “We all grew up in Arizona and decided that Phoenix needed some all-original artwork on apparel for badasses, tough guys, hotties, bitches and lovers,” David said. LowBrow has taken the trendy use of the skull image to another level by adding interesting one-of-a-kind artwork that only major labels like Affliction have brought in the past. These hot tees can make anyone feel tough, as they do for the bands and local roller derby chicks the Brutal Beauties, who LowBrow sponsors. To get your own LowBrow tee go to lowbrowclothing. com
Hide & Seek Clothing
Hide & Seek clothing was created in 2006 by Byron McKoy and Alexis Glidden in Missoula, Montana. This line infuses funky and eclectic colors and images that include things like owls and humming birds. Hide and Seek has a line for every season so they make more than just adorable t-shirts, including hoodies, tank tops and kids clothes. Check them out online at hideandseekclothing.com.
