The Do's and Don'ts of Back to School Fashion

Juggling class and fashion can be a struggle, but just follow these simple back to school fashion rules and you can have carefree but stylish semester.
Do Express yourself
By rocking clothes that represent you and that you feel comfortable in.
Don't be a fashion follower
Just because something is in stylee, it doesn’t mean it’s right for you. And while everyone else might be wearing something, just sporting the trends that work for you is a better idea then wearing something that’s just not you.
Do dress appropriately for school
Respect the public who have to see you. I know it’s hot as hell here but that doesn’t mean it’s okay to wear bikini tops and shorts that show your actual butt cheeks on campus.
Don't dress like you’re going to the club
Work on having a different style for day than for night. Day clothes should include t-shirts, tank tops, summer dresses, shorts, pants, etc. Night gear can include your boobie shirts, mini dresses and heavy makeup.
Do be comfy and allow learning to be your main priority
Dress in shoes that you can walk in. There’s nothing funnier than watching girls stumble around in 4-inch heels trying to find their class, it’s not worth it, save those for the club. At school, be practical. Wear pants that fit well since you’ll be doing a lot of sitting, and consider bringing a sweatshirt in your backpack in case the classroom gets cold.
Don't wear your pajamas to class
I’ve said it time and again; there are other ways of dressing comfortable besides pajamas. Keep the Sponge Bob pj’s for home (I’ve actually seen these on campus) and replace them with comfy yoga pants and a tank top. Subtle leisure clothes are a great alternative for staying comfortable but also stylish during the day.
Don't wear sorority or fraternity shirts every day
Trust me, we get it! It’s cool that you want to represent, but every day is just ridiculous, take a couple days off to express yourself as an individual, too.
Do show the world who you are with a t-shirt
T-shirts can be great conversation starters, especially in college when you might not know anyone. Anytime I see someone wearing a Bear’s t-shirt, I ask if they’re from Chicago (like me) and next thing you know we have something to talk about.
Do bring sun protection
If you’re not from Arizona, you’ll quickly learn just how strong the summer sun is. Make sure to get a great pair of sunglasses and some sunblock for your walk between classes, because although it’s only for a short while, even a quick trek in the desert can do damage.
Don't wear your sunglasses inside!
Seriously, it’s so rude! As if your text messaging in class weren’t bad enough, wearing sunglasses through a lecture is just obnoxious. Take it from me, wearing shades inside only gives people a bad impression of you, so save them for the sun.
