Dancing can mean different things to different people. To many college students, dance might mean grinding up on someone in a nightclub. To a certain College Times writer, dancing is a series of spastic movements reserved for a night at home alone with a playlist of electronica-inspired rock music blaring. And to a distinguished few, dance is art and art is dance.

The latter is likely the case with Carley Conder, an Arizona native, founder and artistic director behind CONDER/dance, a local dance company.

CONDER/dance’s newest show and season finale, “Inhabit,” features current and former students from Arizona’s universities and community colleges. The inspiration behind the show is based around the concept of home and how traditions and impermanence play into that dynamic.

Basically, it’ll remind you of home. Hopefully, you don’t get homesick.

Here are a few more reasons to see a dance production in the Valley:

Impress your significant other. The ladies love to dance and, more importantly, they love to see professionals dance. And usually it’s not the kind of “professional dancers” men are into. Buy a couple tickets to the show and impress her with your cultured ways.

Pretend to be a high roller. Dress up, wear a monocle and tell others how you’ve been a supporter of the arts for decades. Going to movies and concerts counts, right?

Or maybe you could just appreciate dance for the art of it. CONDER/dance has spent countless hours working on “Inhabit.” Perhaps that means it’s something actually worth seeing.

CONDER/dance presents “Inhabit,” Tempe Center for the Arts, 700 W. Rio Salado Parkway, Tempe, 480.350.2822, Friday, April 10, 8 p.m., $20 general, $16 for students
